MSI Gaming debuts new TriDef VR Games app

DDD Group plc, the advanced imaging company, announces the debut of GenMe’s TriDef® VR Games app in conjunction with world leading gaming brand MSI. The new TriDef VR app enables the most popular PC games to be enjoyed in immersive stereoscopic 3D on the very latest virtual reality headsets, powered by MSI’s growing range of VR-ready products including gaming laptops, desktops and backpack PCs, as well as motherboards and graphics cards.

The TriDef VR Games app is based on the highly successful TriDef 3D Experience game conversion solution and enables over 900 of the most popular PC games to be presented in virtual reality without requiring any additional changes by the game developer.

Normal PC games are presented in 2D or converted automatically to immersive stereoscopic 3D on a giant virtual screen inside the VR headset. An innovative head tracked user interface delivers in-game control over key features including the screen size, distance from the screen, 3D depth effects and even allows the screen to be curved to envelop the player in a heightened sense of realism.

Setting TriDef VR Games apart from other VR game engines is the industry leading stereoscopic 3D effects that are automatically created as the game is played. Along with conventional stereo 3D rendering capabilities, TriDef VR Games includes the unique ‘Power 3D’ mode that allows stereo 3D effects to be created on mid-range graphics processors, widening the range of choices available to end users.

The TriDef VR Game app is expected to be launched commercially during the second quarter of 2017.
A sneak preview of the TriDef VR Games is available at TriDef.com/VR

The TriDef VR Games app is compatible with the latest VR-ready MSI gaming PCs including the ultra-powerful GS63VR Stealth Pro gaming laptop, the compact MSI Trident VR gaming desktop and the futuristic MSI VR One, the world’s thinnest and lightest VR backpack PC.

Chris Yewdall, Chief Executive of DDD, said:

With the recent Windows VR announcement from Microsoft signaling the arrival of lower cost, mass market VR headsets during 2017, we believe that the TriDef VR Games app will be a popular app with players looking to immerse themselves in their favorite games in full stereoscopic 3D. One of the key challenges in the introduction of a new display technology like VR is the availability of quality, engaging content to reassure users that their investment in the headset will be worthwhile and this is a key benefit of TriDef VR Games.

TriDef SmartCam now supports 3D webcams

DDD Group plc, the advanced imaging company, announces that its subsidiary GenMe Inc. has introduced support for the very latest 3D webcams with its TriDef® SmartCam™, an innovative real time background replacement solution for popular Windows and Apple Mac applications.

TriDef SmartCam now offers support for 3D webcams including the Razer™ Stargazer and the Creative Labs BlasterX® Senz3D™ webcams that incorporate Intel® RealSense™ depth sensing capabilities.

The TriDef SmartCam software automatically detects the presence of a 3D webcam and augments the 3D depth information being captured by the 3D webcam with TriDef SmartCam’s image analysis algorithms. In this approach, the depth sensing range of the 3D webcam is increased along with the detection accuracy when used in naturally lit environments.

As a ‘middleware’ software application, TriDef SmartCam enables owners of the new 3D webcams to have instant compatibility with over thirty of the most popular webcasting, gamecasting and video chat applications that have hundreds of millions of users globally.

TriDef SmartCam is already gaining a growing user base in the gamecasting/webcasting and video conferencing markets. It turns a conventional 2D webcam into a powerful compositing tool that can either blur or replace the user’s immediate environment with alternative background images and filter effects in real time.

Users of popular gamecasting/webcasting applications including Open Broadcaster System (OBS) and popular video conferencing applications such as Appear.in can use the TriDef SmartCam solution to overlay their head and torso image on gameplay videos and webcasts or replace their background during video calls using the full 60 frames per second performance of the latest HD webcams.

Over 370,000 evaluation copies of TriDef SmartCam for Windows have already been downloaded and distributed with gaming PCs and gamecasting/webcasting apps since the product was introduced in late May 2015.

Chris Yewdall, Chief Executive of DDD, said:

We are pleased to be able to broaden TriDef SmartCam’s value proposition to the recently introduced premium 3D webcams. Not only does TriDef SmartCam improve the performance of the 3D webcams but it also unlocks access to a wealth of popular apps for the 3D webcam owners without waiting while the app developer adds support for the 3D webcam.

TriDef SmartCam with 3D webcam support is available as a free trial download for Windows PCs from DDD’s TriDef website. For Razer Stargazer users wishing to evaluate TriDef SmartCam, an extended free 30 day trial can be downloaded at TriDef.com/SmartCam

Instead of replacing the background, the SmartBlur feature blurs it while keeping the conference call participant in clear focus, providing additional privacy and security.

In addition to support for popular gamecasting and webcasting apps, TriDef SmartCam is compatible with over 20 leading video chat apps including Skype for Windows desktop, QQ, ooVoo and Line.

After a thirty day free trial, users will be able to purchase TriDef SmartCam for US$14.99.

Visitors to GIGABYTE’s booth in Hall 5 at gamescom 2016 will have the opportunity to experience the new gaming laptops with the TriDef SmartCam and SmartBlur feature.

In 2015, more than 800 exhibitors from 49 countries presented their latest products to 345,000 visitors who attended gamescom 2015.

Chris Yewdall, Chief Executive of DDD, said:

TriDef SmartCam was introduced to the gaming community at gamescom last year, and we are pleased to have secured this agreement with GIGABYTE to bring the unique capabilities of TriDef SmartCam to their gaming laptop customers.

Jone Chang, Product Division Director of GIGABYTE, said:

GIGABYTE has an exceptional reputation for providing the PC community with reliable and marvelous products over the years, and its passion for the industry has fueled its momentum to continually exceed expectations. Adding TriDef SmartCam to our line of gaming laptops demonstrates how the harmony of software and hardware can create an enjoyable and carefree entertainment environment for everyone.

TriDef SmartCam affiliate agreement with leading IT component and peripheral supplier

DDD Group announces that its GenMe subsidiary has signed an affiliate distribution agreement for its TriDef® SmartCam software with a leading supplier of PCs and PC peripherals for use with the distributor’s range of gaming PCs and PC motherboards. This is a one-year, non-exclusive affiliate agreement that will operate on a revenue share basis between GenMe and the affiliate.

Under the terms of the agreement, the affiliate will pre-load the TriDef SmartCam software onto their range of gaming notebooks and PCs. In addition, the TriDef SmartCam software is expected to be included on the installation CD supplied with the affiliate’s PC motherboards.

The TriDef SmartCam software will also include the new TriDef SmartBlur feature that provides additional privacy on video conference calls. As video conferencing cameras and large screen UHD/4K displays used by business users continue to increase in resolution, some users are seeking a solution that prevents sensitive information on monitors, whiteboards and elsewhere in the room being visible to the conference call participants. Instead of replacing the background, the SmartBlur feature blurs it while keeping the conference call participant in clear focus, providing additional privacy and security.

After a thirty day free trial, users will be able to purchase TriDef SmartCam for US$14.99.

Since a significant proportion of the PCs and motherboards are purchased by gamers, the inclusion of TriDef SmartCam will make it easier for customers to create gameplay videos that are shared on platforms such as Twitch and YouTube.

Chris Yewdall, Chief Executive of DDD, said:

TriDef SmartCam was introduced to the gaming community in September last year, and we are pleased to have secured this agreement with a leading brand in the IT industry. We anticipate that this agreement will increase the current monthly shipments of SmartCam by around 30% during the third quarter and seven to eight fold in the fourth quarter of 2017. As the motherboard shipments reach full capacity in early 2017, we anticipate that monthly TriDef SmartCam shipments will exceed 1 million units per month.

Further announcements will be made as the affiliate launches their new products that include the TriDef SmartCam software.

UPix social photography app launch for iPhone

DDD Group plc announces that the UPix™ social photography app is now available for the iPhone®, iPod touch® and iPad in the Apple® App Store®.

UPix simplifies and improves the process of creating the ideal selfie by allowing the user to capture the optimal shot of the background scene with the rear-facing camera and then overlaying their selfie image in the best position which is separately captured with the user or front-facing camera. UPix uses the company’s latest background replacement technologies to automatically remove the background from the image taken with the front facing camera so that only the user’s head and shoulders remain for integration with the background scene.

The UPix app includes intuitive touch screen controls allowing the user to position and resize their head and shoulder image in the best position in front of the background scene providing the ultimate in selfie composition. To accommodate differences in lighting between the rear and front facing cameras, UPix includes the ability to adjust the colour and contrast of the two images for a natural looking picture. The app also allows the user to save their favourite headshots for re-use on future selfies.

UPix makes selfies interactive, allowing friends to add themselves into the original selfie and share it on. The interactive selfies, or “groupies”, are created by downloading and using the original selfie as the UPix background and using UPix to add a second person’s head and shoulder selfie into the original picture before saving it and re-sharing it. The UPix app allows others to become part of the groupie at any time and from anywhere in the world.

UPix also enables the creation of virtual selfies, where fans can create and share selfies with their favorite musicians, actors and sports stars. With the continual growth in the use of social media with television shows and films, this creates a closer bond between the stars and their fans all over the world.

With Google estimating that more than 93 million selfies are created and shared every day, UPix is already available to a global audience of well over one billion Android mobile device owners. The UPix app is currently compatible with iOS 8.0 and later, representing over 95% of the devices serviced by the App Store.

UPix is now available as a free download from the Apple App Store and the Google Play store. An in-app purchase of $0.99 allows the UPix watermark to be removed from selfies created with the app.

More information on the UPix app is available at UPixapp.com.

Chris Yewdall, Chief Executive of DDD, said:

Since launching the beta release of UPix in late February, we have continued to update and improve the app, adding more features in response to feedback from our users. The app is now available to the sizeable installed base of iOS and Android mobile phone and tablet users.

We are also encouraged by the positive response we are receiving to the innovative app from handset manufacturers and we are already engaged in negotiations to introduce the UPix app into brand specific app stores which we expect will expand the reach of the UPix app beyond the Google and Apple app stores.

TriDef SmartCam for Mac OS X launch

DDD Group plc announces that its subsidiary GenMe Inc. has launched the Apple OS X version of TriDef® SmartCam, an innovative real time background replacement solution for popular Apple Mac applications.

TriDef SmartCam is already gaining a growing user base in the gamecasting/webcasting and video conferencing markets. It turns a conventional 2D webcam into a powerful compositing tool that can replace the user’s immediate environment with alternative background images and filter effects in real time.

Users of popular gamecasting/webcasting applications including Open Broadcaster System (OBS) and popular video conferencing applications such as Skype™ can use the TriDef SmartCam solution to overlay their head and torso image on gameplay videos and webcasts or replace their background during video calls.

Importantly, as a software application, TriDef SmartCam does not require any special hardware such as a 3D sensor or ‘green screen’ to perform the background replacement. This solution is both highly cost effective and easy to distribute as it has been created to ensure that it is already compatible with many popular software applications, which have hundreds of millions of users globally.

Over 278,000 evaluation copies of TriDef SmartCam for Windows have already been downloaded and distributed with gaming PCs and gamecasting/webcasting apps since the product was introduced in late May 2015.

TriDef SmartCam is available as a free download for Windows PCs and OS X for Mac from DDD’s TriDef website. For Mac users wishing to evaluate TriDef SmartCam, a free trial that expires on June 30th 2016 can be downloaded. For Windows users, a seven day free trial can be downloaded, with a $14.99 purchase enabling the product at the end of the trial period.

Chris Yewdall, Chief Executive of DDD, said:

“As we continue to expand the market for TriDef SmartCam’s background replacement capabilities, delivering the solution for Apple Mac OS X users is a critical component to address the needs of business users, in particular those using video conferencing applications who want greater flexibility as to where they can participate in video calls.

We continue to be encouraged by the response to our unique solution with downloads and pre-installs of the Windows version surpassing 30,000 per month in the first quarter.”

Additional information, including the TriDef SmartCam download, can be found at:

Website domain name change and new product update

DDD Group announces that it has changed its website to DDDGroupplc.com where shareholders may now obtain details about the company, including AIM Rule 26 information.

The website name change is the final stage of the repositioning of the business as it transitions to the new growth markets in gamecasting, video conferencing and social photography. The Group will continue to operate its TriDef.com, UPixapp.com and GenMe.com websites which support the growing range of innovative 2D background replacement solutions that the company has recently launched.

Since introducing TriDef SmartCam in mid-2015, the company has made good progress in the gamecasting and webcasting market where over 200,000 trial copies have already been shipped to end users by its affiliates and licensees. With the positive response from gamers who are creating and sharing their game videos on Twitch and YouTube, TriDef SmartCam is now attracting the attention of leading companies who supply key products to the gamecasting and video conferencing markets globally.

Most recently, the company has released its ground-breaking UPix mobile app in the Google Play store which takes social photography to a whole new level. Not only does UPix allow users to take better selfies but it also makes selfies interactive by allowing friends to become part of their photos and to re-share them. The UPix app also allows fans to take virtual selfies with their favourite actors, musicians and sports stars, creating a closer bond between fans and celebrities on social media.

The company also recently moved its US office to a new location in the heart of LA’s ‘Silicon Beach’ technology community which has rapidly become a key global technology hub for leading companies including Facebook, YouTube, Google and Snapchat.

Chris Yewdall, Chief Executive of DDD, said:

The company’s focus is very much aimed at the “Generation Me” millennials who are increasingly sharing their personal experiences online through the burgeoning social media platforms.

The fact that it only took a few months to ship the first two hundred thousand TriDef SmartCam licenses when it took over two years to achieve this same benchmark in 3D underscores how much larger the target markets are for our new products.

On Twitch.tv alone, 1.7 million gamers per month are now broadcasting video game content that is watched by over 100 million viewers per month. Google has estimated that over 93 million selfies are captured and shared every day which is a key audience for the new UPix app.

The latest products are compatible with PCs, games consoles and mobile devices that consumers already own and are easily and cost effectively distributed as software, greatly reducing the barriers to adoption. The affiliate business model is also being well received by our partners since it unlocks incremental value from their end users.

Our new US base in the heart of Silicon Beach gives us ready access to customers, partners and investment capital as we continue to grow the GenMe Inc. subsidiary.
